We were a small team, trying to grow our business with all we had.
We had a good product, good people and were operating in a relatively niche market. We did everything we were supposed to.
Yet deals always seemed to require a huge effort to close. We were always swimming upstream, struggling against the current.
Then, one day a large enterprise came knocking on our door and cut a cheque for 30x our typical deal size. It was a dream come true.
Except. They needed us to raise our game and become ISO certified within 1 year. Or the deal was off.
We couldn't turn down such a tremendous opportunity. It was our doorway into the big leagues.
There was only one option: get ISO certified.
Here's where the trouble began: Getting ISO certified was a NIGHTMARE.
We were trying to make it work with a mish-mash of software solutions, documentation and consultants—but there were too many moving parts, too many non-conformities that we missed, too much jargon...
It was long, tiresome and stressful. We managed to get certified in the end, but the experience made us realise that there HAD to be a better way!
Once we had achieved an ISO certification, the results were phenomenal.
We retained the first enterprise client and started landing more high-value deals!
We could compete head and shoulders with market leaders and our business took off and was ultimately acquired.
This just cemented our belief in the impact ISO certifications could have on small businesses.
So, we decided to build the product we would have given an arm and a leg for when we were first trying to move upmarket.
We combined the best of all the existing solutions and features we desperately needed but did not have—and eliminated all the roadblocks that made implementation harder.
Then, to test it out and prove that our software works the way we say it does, we used Upscaler ourselves to become certified to ISO 27001, all in less than 3 months.
